Buddy System
In order that you can enjoy the club fully, you will be supported by a ‘buddy’. Your buddy will guide you through your first few months and help you find your way.
Members of other or previous clubs who are making Portal their home Club for handicap purposes are requested to inform the Ladies Handicap Secretary that this is the case. A copy of their brief handicap certificate/record to date should be provided and they must get the previous club to take them off their handicap system. Players with new WHS handicaps are immediately eligible to submit supplementary scores which must be pre-registered – enquiries about this to be referred to the Ladies Handicap Secretary.

Getting a Handicap
Should you need to obtain your golf handicap you will need to complete 54 holes of golf with a member who has a handicap and will mark your card with your score. This can be done by submitting six 9 holes or three 18 holes or a mixture of both. Ideally, one of the cards needs to be marked by a Ladies Committee member (see list above).
Your buddy can help you with this, however if you need any help in completing your 54 holes, please email me either the Lady captain or the handicap Secretary. When you have obtained your handicap index then you will be able to register on How Did I Do (HDID), which is the system we use for members to enter our club competitions.

CDH Number (also known as England Golf Membership Number)
In golf, a CDH number, or Central Database of Handicaps number, is a unique 10-digit number that identifies a golfer and their handicap record. It's used by golf clubs and governing bodies like England Golf to manage and verify handicaps, making it easier for golfers to participate in external events and competitions.
• Unique Identification: The CDH number is assigned to each golfer and remains with them for life.
• Handicap Tracking: It's linked to a golfer's Handicap Index, which is a rolling average of their best scores.
• Verification: Golf clubs can use the CDH number to confirm a golfer's handicap, making it easier to organize and manage open competitions.
• Online Access: CDH numbers can be used to access a golfer's handicap and playing record online through the relevant governing body's website or mobile app.
• External Events: When entering an external event, golfers may be required to provide their CDH number to confirm their handicap eligibility, according to Golf Empire
