Club Officials
2026

Mr President - Rob Williams

Rob has been a member of the Club since moving to the area in 2010 with his wife Helen and they are both active supporters of club competitions, team matches and social events. During his time with the Club, Rob has served on Committees in numerous roles, culminating in Club Captain in 2022.

“I’ve always enjoyed getting involved with the running of the club to ensure our members enjoy the best possible golfing and social experience, and I’m looking forward to continuing that by supporting our Club Captains and future Captains over the next three years.”

Mr Captain - Graham Garner-Jones

Graham Garner-Jones has been a member of Portal Premier and the Championship courses all of his golfing career and has never been a member of any other club. He joined back in the 1990’s and has gained great experience as both a long playing member and having filled several positions on Club Council.

Graham is a regular entrant in Club Competitions, including the Seniors section and has represented the Club in Inter Club matches for both the Seniors and Gents. He has a handicap low of 10.2 and is currently 11.7.

He has his name on a number of the Competitions boards at the Championship course and recently added to these as the winner of the 2024 Sam Hobbis singles and 2025 Club Singles Plate at the Premier.

Graham lives in Heswall in Wirral with his Partner Dawn and is therefore a committed traveller for his golf. He has remained an ever present at Portal due to the outstanding challenges and beauty that the three courses offer and the unrivalled friendship that members have shared with him over the years.

He is 69 years old and is a retired Senior partner from RSM/Baker Tilly Chartered Accountants and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Graham has three Grown up children with three grandchildren.

Still a keen sportsman, swimmer and ‘attempting golfer’. He has represented his Country, County, and Cities in a number of sports, including Football, Badminton, Volleyball and Swimming although he has little such claims for his golf!!

Admitted as club Captain in 2026 Graham has undertaken to apply his skills and attention in seeking to maintaining the Clubs excellent current qualities whilst working with the team on those specific aspects where improvements can be facilitated over the year of his Captaincy and that should add value for years beyond.

Lady Captain - Sue Wall

Sue joined the club in 2018 and was warmly welcomed by the ladies from the outset.

Since then, she has had the honour of playing and representing the club on the Shield teams, as well as in the Percival and British Mixed competitions. ‘I am  delighted to serve as Lady Captain this year and look forward to welcoming members and guests, to sharing an enjoyable and successful year both on and off the course’.
