Turkey Trot - Sat 4th December

It was a blustery day for the annual Turkey Trot, 73 members braved the weather and played the Texas Scramble competition. Some in full Christmas regalia! Congratulations to winners with some good scores posted.

Past Captain's Day - 16th September

This year's past-captain's day was held at Ringway Golf Club, which included invited members of the committee.

A great days golf and lovely meal to follow was enjoyed by all.

Presidents Day - 4th September

President’s Day dawned not too brightly but dry on Saturday. 61 men and 16 ladies played for the respective trophies. Some good scores, especially from the men, the results were winner:

Result listed below - Mark Ryan, Nett 66, with Steve Bolton Nett 69 coming a close 2nd.
LC Judy Yankey won the ladies’ trophy with a Nett 74 on a countback from Sharon Tidd.

Richard & Jane Cooke won the men’s and ladies’ Stableford competition.

Congratulations to all and many thanks to Mr President Pat Roper for organising and holding a very enjoyable evening meal and quiz.

Solheim Cup - 3rd September

Portal & Hill Valley played their biennial 'Solheim Cup' match.

Unfortunately, Portal were not quite good enough and lost 3.5 - 5.5 pts.

Yankey Doodle Trophy - Tuesday 10th August

Many thanks to all who played, donated, supported and dressed up to make Lady Captain’s charity day, Tuesday 10th August, a great success.

The ladies’ pairs ‘Yankey Doodle Trophy’, donated by Jeff Malone, was won by:

Ladies Invitation Day - 25th July

Another lovely sunny day for the ladies’ Invitation Day at Portal last Sunday. Not a huge turnout but a very enjoyable day.

* Winners were Judy Yankey (LC) & Patti Vincent with their visitors Di Bell (Eaton) & Brenda Harrington (Hawkestone Park) 87 pts.
* Runners-up Judy Piper & Sue Randles with visitors Anne Smith (Eaton) & Elaine Stewart (Delamere) 84pts.
* Nearest the Pin was Anne Perry (Delamere)
* Nearest the Line Sue Norman (Carden Park)

Lady Captain's Day - 11th July

A lovely day dawned on Sunday for Lady Captain’s Day, 36 played in good weather and enjoyed by all.

Result:
1st Prize Andrea Dunstan won the Trophy with 38 pts
2nd Rhian Jones with 38 pts (countback),
3rd Amy Lester (VC) with 37 pts

New lady member Val Hughes won the extra 18 hole Stableford comp and Mr President (Pat Roper) won the men’s.

Pairs Better Ball Invitation - 20th June

Some good scores in Sunday's Club Invitation, the winners Daryl Edwards / Andy Ogden and runners up Martin Lester/Jill Tucker both had 46 points, but Daryl and Andy won on a count back with 25 pts on the back 9.

Nearest the Pins were Paul Robinson on the 5th and Sharon Tidd on the 15th.

Congratulations to the winners, 21 teams took part and the weather stayed fine. Many thanks to all who took part, organised, helped and contributed to charity raffle and generally made it a successful day. Many good comments on the condition of the course, many thanks to Barry and his team.

Ladies v Seniors Social Comp - 1st June

The sun shone brightly today (Tuesday 1st June) for the biannual Ladies/Seniors competition.
Twenty-eight ladies & gents turned out to play 10 holes and after match drinks & chat and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Some good scores were posted but the winners were LC Judy Yankey, Janet Elrin, Helen Wrench & Peter Wilson (59 pts,) runners-up were LVC Amy Lester, Janis Turner, Neil Tidd and Harry Cooke (who stepped in at the last minute) (53 pts).

Portal v Vicars Cross - 2nd May 2021

Portal Men's Team were delighted to welcome Vicars Cross to Portal Premier for our first Inter Club Match for quite some time!

On a day that can only be described as four seasons in one day! A close and hard fought match was won by Vicars Cross 3.5 pts to 2.5 pts with 3 of the six matches halved.

Lady Captain - Davenham to Inverness Charity Walk

April 7th

I would like to give huge thanks to everyone who has supported/ donated to my virtual charity walk to Inverness. Made the last 5 miles round the golf course! It has raised much needed funds for my local CDSSG for which they and I much appreciate. Now have my feet up with a glass of wine before the next challenge!😘 xx
